Heather Newsham FCA - Director
Heather heads up Newsham & Co and qualified as a Chartered Accountant with a local firm of Chartered Accountants in Hull, Smailes Goldie. This gave Heather a breadth of experience in a wide variety of businesses including sole traders, partnerships and limited companies in many different sectors. She then joined Northern Foods plc to become Group Financial Accountant, and during her many years of service with them, fulfilled a number of other senior accountancy roles for the FTSE listed Company. Northern Foods plc is one of the leading food producers and manufacturers in the UK and Ireland which has had turnover in excess of £1.5bn. This type of industry exposure is one which few other comparative accountancy practices can boast.
After eight years at Northern Foods Heather started a family and during this time worked as a part time accountant for a small service business. This role covered all the accounting functions from bookkeeping on Sage to Payroll, VAT, management and statutory accounts.
Following the birth of her second child in 2007 Heather set up Newsham & Co to allow her to use her broad experience to cater for individual businesses and the self employed. Lee Newsham FCA
Heather's husband, Lee, is also a Chartered Accountant and Financial Director of a £50million national construction company PDR Construction Ltd based in Hull. Like Heather, Lee trained at Smailes Goldie and also had plc experience with Associated British Foods plc (ABF) before taking the FD role with PDR in 2000. Whilst Newsham & Co is very much Heather's business, Lee's equally wide ranging experience and knowledge is also available to Heather to ensure that her client's requirements can be fulfilled and their expectations exceeded of what a "small practice" can offer.
